Recent experimental test drives with the ROboMObil show the energy saving potential of optimized paths and velocity profiles. At ADAC test facilities in Penzing an optimized and non-optimized path with different velocity profiles were tracked utilizing the ROboMObils path following control. The velocity profiles are optimized using Dynamic Programming and explore the trade-off between energy and time optimal motion. Evaluating the vehicles power consumption reveals energy savings up to 20 % with only a 10 % longer driving time on the depicted course.
